Online Safety

Using technology can offer many positive educational and social benefits for pupils, but unfortunately there are associated dangers.  Children and young people are vulnerable and may expose themselves to danger, whether knowingly or unknowingly. At St. Mary’s Catholic School we value highly, the rich range of resources and experiences that the Internet, and other technologies, can offer.

The teaching of Online Safety is included in the Computing curriculum covered by each class. Every year we hold an annual Friendship/Online Safety Week to further promote a sensible use of the latest technology. This includes pupil assemblies, workshops for parents and training for staff. We have policies in place to help protect staff and children.

Parent Safeguarding Hub

The Safeguarding Training Centre has created a safeguarding hub that allows parents to access interactive guidance on setting up parental controls on their child’s devices, as well as guidance on apps like TikTok, YouTube and Instagram and more.
