Governor Information
'The governing body of St Mary’s has a number of responsibilities. Essentially, we work with the headteacher to help run the school. While the headteacher is responsible for the day-to-day management, we provide oversight as a “critical friend” – to set strategic direction, review progress and both challenge and support the management team.
Governors come from a variety of different backgrounds. All are voluntary and attend regular full meetings of the Governing Body as well as sub-committees to do with the school’s finances, staffing, premises, curriculum etc. You will recognise some of us as fellow parents or from our Parish Church. Other governors may have no children at St Mary’s but can still be seen at various events or on school visits. We all share in the school’s vision and values and are proud to be part of the St Mary’s community.'
Kind Regards,
Maureen Thorpe
